Grounded Men (“we,” “us”) operates the Grounded Men web app, iOS app, and Android app (collectively, the “Service”). This Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

  • Account data. Email address, password (stored as a bcrypt hash), display name, optional bio, optional avatar image.
  • Content you create. Prayer journal entries, Bible highlights, notes, bookmarks, sermon notes, prayer wall posts, huddle messages, gift amounts.
  • Live video. When you join a huddle call, camera and microphone streams are transmitted through our video provider (Daily.co). We do not record or retain video or audio.
  • Device / technical. IP address, user-agent, sign-in timestamps, and coarse usage events used to operate and secure the Service. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.
  • Payment data (donations only). If you make a gift, Stripe receives your payment details directly. We store the amount, date, and Stripe reference ID — never your full card number.

2. How we use it

  • To provide the core features (authentication, huddles, journaling, Bible, live calls).
  • To send transactional email (welcome, password reset, gift receipts).
  • To detect and prevent abuse, and to comply with legal obligations.
  • We do not sell your data, run ad-targeting on you, or train machine-learning models on your content.

3. Confession mode

Journal entries marked as “confession” are subject to an additional database-level guard that prevents them from being shared to a huddle or partner. Only you can read your confession entries. This is enforced in code and in the database.

4. Who we share with

  • Daily.co — real-time audio/video transport for huddle calls.
  • Stripe — payment processing for donations.
  • Postmark — transactional email delivery.
  • DigitalOcean — hosting (US region) and managed Postgres.

We share only what is necessary for each provider to perform its service. No data is sold or shared for advertising.

5. Retention

Account and content data persists for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (Settings → Delete account), we anonymize your user record, revoke all sessions, and scrub the text of your journal and prayer content immediately. Irreversible backups roll off within 30 days.

6. Your rights

  • Access & correction. Edit your profile at any time in Settings.
  • Deletion. In-app Delete account flow removes your data. Email [email protected] for verified deletion if you cannot access the app.
  • Export. Email us and we'll provide a JSON export within 30 days.
  • California (CCPA) & EU/UK (GDPR). Residents of these jurisdictions have additional rights (access, portability, objection, complaint to supervisory authority). We honor verified requests regardless of residence.

7. Children

Grounded Men is intended for users age 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.

8. Security

Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes. All traffic is served over TLS. Access tokens expire in 15 minutes; refresh tokens rotate on every use.

9. Changes

We will post a new “Last updated” date when this Policy changes. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email.
